Mr. Grant is an associate in the vehicle engineering practice in the Chicago, Illinois office. Mr. Grant is proficient in synthesizing data collected during inspections and utilizing this information in accident reconstruction analyses. His professional experience in accident reconstruction includes performing field inspections of heavy trucks and passenger vehicles, collecting and preserving crash-related vehicle data, and utilizing 3D laser scanners and drones to document accident sites. On numerous occasions, he has imaged data from heavy truck Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and passenger vehicle Event Data Recorders (EDRs) as part of rapid response investigations. Further, he has inspected commercial vehicle air brake systems and measured and recorded brake stroke data for compliance. Mr. Grant has received specialized training in accident reconstruction and vehicle dynamics analysis, imaging of ECUs and EDRs, the operation of commercial vehicle brake systems, drone mapping, and photogrammetry. He has evaluated the dynamics of heavy trucks and passenger vehicles involved in complex collision scenarios including high-speed multi-vehicle collisions, low-to-moderate speed vehicle-to-vehicle collisions, and vehicular collisions involving roadside objects. Mr. Grant has utilized tools including computer simulation, 3D CAD modeling, and photogrammetry, and has generated demonstrative exhibits for presentation purposes and use in technical reports.
