The 2024 GAR 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index recognizes Exponent's technical services through improved ratings in several categories

Exponent rose to 13th — up from 16th — in the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index, an annual survey that highlights the "most active and sought-after expert witness firms" by including the quantity and size of a firm's hearings in its rankings. Exponent's ranking is the highest among firms dedicated to engineering and science.

Since last year, the quantity of Exponent's unique hearings has increased from 30 in 2023 (No. 16 in the rankings) to 55 in 2024 (No. 13). GAR's 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index attributes the firm's rise in rankings to a strong following among U.S. corporations, particularly energy firms. This is reflected in Exponent's rank of 5th for the total number of energy hearings and oil and gas hearings, which is up from its 2023 ranking of 16th.

"We are honored to be recognized by GAR for our data-infused, evidence-based, scientifically rigorous arbitration experience," said Exponent Group Vice President and Principal Engineer Joseph Rakow, Ph.D., P.E. "No matter how complex the issue, our highly credentialed teams of engineers and scientists, representing more than 90 technical disciplines, offer our clients high-quality, data-backed conclusions that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. We're proud to conduct objective analyses that provide our clients with solutions rooted in the rigor of engineering and science."

The survey also tracks disaggregated hearings, a category recognizing firms that position multiple experts in a single arbitration. Exponent's quantity of disaggregated hearings increased from 47 in 2023 (No. 11) to 80 in 2024 (No. 7), demonstrating our unique ability to provide integrated multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists. Of Exponent's 80 disaggregated hearings, 35 were energy related, including 10 in oil and gas.

Another area of growth for our firm has been in construction. Rising from 8th in the 2023 rankings, Exponent is ranked 6th this year for the total number of construction hearings, representing 48% of all claims for the firm.

In addition, the average value of damages in proceedings involving Exponent increased from U.S. $197 million in GAR's 2023 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index to U.S. $270 million. The total value of damages in proceedings involving Exponent also doubled since 2023 to U.S. $9.4 billion, which is the 12th highest in the 2024 rankings.

Both Exponent's total number of construction claims and total damages value are the highest of any firm dedicated to engineering and science.
