For the second year in a row, Exponent ranked No. 17 in the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index. The journal's annual hallmark survey recommends "the most active, sought-after" expert support services worldwide. This year marks its 15th edition.
Exponent's continued ranking at No. 17 was based on an average claim value of $167.8 million and 24 total hearings. The 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index also tracks disaggregated hearings, which recognize firms that routinely position multiple experts inside a single arbitration. Exponent's disaggregated hearings increased from 29 in 2021 to 36 in 2022, placing the firm at No. 11 in that subcategory and underscoring the breadth and depth of engineering and scientific disciplines available across the firm. Notably, when the same data is reconsidered to show the number of experts cross-examined in disaggregated hearings, Exponent ranks No. 2, with 100 percent of experts cross-examined.
"Our technical experts are not only the best in their respective fields and disciplines; they are also accustomed to working together seamlessly and efficiently on complex matters that involve multiple disciplines. They have the litigation experience to present evidence-based and data-driven arguments that clearly explain complex issues to non-technical audiences," said Exponent Group Vice President and Principal Engineer Harri K. Kytomaa, Ph.D., P.E., CFEI, FASME. "We are proud to be recognized by GAR in many respects but particularly on these finer points that illuminate the differentiators we are known and trusted for — and that our clients depend on."
Additionally, Exponent ranked No. 10 in separate subcategories showing the firm's total number of energy hearings and construction hearings. Construction claims in 2022 saw an uptick from 11 to 13 disaggregated hearings for Exponent, representing just over 36 percent of all claims for the firm.
