Dr. Amir Jokar, a Managing Engineer of the Thermal Practice in Orange County, received the 2017 Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). This Award recognizes members who have served ASHRAE faithfully and within distinction on committees or have otherwise given freely of their time and talent on behalf of the Society.
He has served as the chair of two technical committees and member of several other committees for the last 12 years, and he is currently a member of the Technical Activities Committee (TAC) as the Section 1 Head, where he is in charge of monitoring the technical activities of thirteen committees.
At Exponent, Dr. Jokar has been working on numerous projects related to Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) including: failure and fire in chillers, compressors, condensers, and split systems, flammable refrigerants, mold and odor issues in residential and automotive air conditioning systems, and technology development for energy efficiencies in buildings and systems.
