Chason J. Coelho, Ph.D., CSP, CFI, senior managing scientist in Exponent's Human Factors practice, was selected to serve on the board of directors for the Evergreen Safety Council (ESC). The ESC is a non-profit, non-governmental organization accredited through the American Association of Safety Councils (AASC) and dedicated to promoting safety in the Seattle area. The ESC addresses safety for pilot car operators, flaggers, and traffic control supervisors, as well as for defensive driving and motorcycle operation.
Dr. Coelho brings a wealth of experience to his role as one of eight volunteer board members. A cognitive neuroscientist by training, he has applied his interdisciplinary expertise in mental and physical behavior to risk assessment and safety performance in industries such as construction, manufacturing, mining, and utilities. Dedicated to community service and safety, Dr. Coelho is a Certified Safety Professional, a Certified Fire Investigator, a Certified RiderCoach through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, a licensed Motorcycle Safety Instructor in the State of Washington, a volunteer firefighter, an emergency medical technician, and a confined space and vehicle rescue technician.
